BIO

PRODUCER, PERFORMER, EDUCATOR

With humble beginnings in rural Southeast Texas I have attempted to pave my own road out of every stereotype and form my taste at every stop. From studying world folk and classical styles to forming new projects on two continents; I am set in my pursuit of reimagination and creation. Whether I am leading an ensemble or following along I strive to take people by surprise with my mix of classic and modern taste.

Education has always been a part of my life since both my parents were teachers at my local public school growing up. I have been teaching in various capacities for approximately 12 years as a percussion instructor, computer tech facilitator, and now an ESL teacher. I believe one should always be learning and remain curious while in touch with their community and this is why I started organizing creative workshops with various regional teachers and artists in my local area through DIO 同創工作室. The DIO organization came from my work with We Are South 南迴樂 which hosted local and international musicians and artists at multiple locations all across Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. I have also recently joined the board of directors for Artly World in Austin, TX to continue to support the community and arts closer to my roots.

As a band leader and performer I helped form and continue to create music with the Taiwan based band, Stinky Tofu, along with other side projects in the southern Taiwan area as an arranger, manager, producer, and composer. My first project, Ethnos, performed in the Austin, TX area and later provided workshops and clinics to those interested in learning more about world folk music from 2013 to 2016. My last band, Ghost Money All-stars, could be seen performing at festivals and live houses all over Taiwan. I may also be heard on recordings such as JDub & The Tease’s “Moon & Stars Pt. II”, Poppy Xander’s second album “Little Ghosts”, The University of North Texas’ 2 o’clock Steel Drum Band’s album “Special Brew”, and World Racketeering Squad's "Last Minute Magic".

As a music producer, I focus on helping amateur and emerging artists develop their material into something they can be proud to call their own. My experience as a drummer, percussionist, keyboard player, educator, band leader, and event organizer give me a unique perspective on the minutiae of writing, recording, performing, and working with groups. Building diverse elements from hip-hop to rock, world music to funk, I believe I am able to quickly find key elements with an attention to detail that makes the final product both raw and focused.

Whether you have eclectic taste yourself or are strictly a popular music fan, I continually develop my ear to bring my creations to another level. You may keep up to date with my latest projects on Soundcloud or visit my Show & Tell page.

"Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art."
-Charlie Parker
